Schedule of the procedure for the conferment of the doctorate degree
- Designation of a supervisor / supervisors.
Before the initiation of the procedure, a candidate applying for the conferment of the doctorate degree shall submit an application to the Chairman of the Scientific Discipline Council for the appointment of a supervisor / supervisors.
- Requirements for candidates for the doctorate degree after the appointment of the supervisor/supervisors.
- Verification of learning outcomes for qualifications at level 8 of the Polish Qualifi-cations Framework.

Initiation of the procedure for the conferment of the doctorate degree.
After meeting the requirements set out in points 2 and 3 and preparing the doctoral dissertation, the candidate submits to the Chairman of the Scientific Discipline Council an application for conducting the procedure for the conferment of the doctorate degree along with a complete set of documents. After the candidate submits an application to initiate the procedure, together with the doctoral dissertation and the required documents, the Scientific Discipline Council adopts resolutions on: – appointing reviewers in the procedure for the conferment of the doctorate degree – appointing the composition of the doctoral commission.
- Admitting a doctoral dissertation to defense, defending a doctoral dissertation, accepting public defense, conferment of the doctorate degree.
After receiving the last review, the Examining Board analyzes the reviews, adopts a resolution on: – admitting to public defense or – refusing to admit to public defense and referring the matter to the Scientific Discipline Council. A person who has received positive reviews from at least 2 reviewers and meets the requirements referred to in art. 186 ust. 1 pkt. 5 of the Act is allowed to the defence. In the event of adopting a resolution on admitting a candidate to public defense, the chairman of the Examining Board sets the date and place of defense. Public defense of the doctoral dissertation takes place before the Examining Board. After public defense, the Examining Board adopts a resolution on accepting the public defense and referring it to the Senate. The University shall submit an application for granting a doctorate degree or refusing to accept a defense and referring to the Senate a request to refuse to award a doctoral degree. The Examining Board shall submit the documentation to the Scientific Discipline Council which shall refer the matter to the University Senate for a resolution in this regard.
- Costs of conducting the procedure.
The amount of the fee is related to the costs of the procedure, taking into account in particular the costs of remuneration of the supervisor or supervisors, auxiliary supervisor and reviewers.
- In justified cases, the Rector may exempt the candidate from the fee in whole or in part, on the basis of an individual decision.
- In the case of an academic teacher, the costs of the proceedings shall be borne by the university employing him / her.
The agreement on incurring the costs for conducting the procedure for the conferment of the doctorate degree is concluded within 30 days from the date of adoption by the Scientific Discipline Council of the resolution on the appointment of the supervisor or supervisors, including the auxiliary supervisor for the procedure for the conferment of the doctorate degree . Academic teachers employed at Akademia Kaliska im. Prezydenta Stanisława Wojciechowskiego, applicants for the award of a doctorate degree do not pay the fees referred to in section 1 above, except for the fees for issuing a copy of the diploma.
