The Women’s Health Research Institute is a university unit aimed at conducting scientific activities in the field of medicine and health sciences, focusing on the health needs of women.
The scientific activities of the Institute primarily focus on research related to reproductive health, with particular emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and endometriosis. Within our scientific projects, we develop new diagnostic strategies to improve the quality of life for women dealing with these conditions.
The main objective of our scientific research is to utilize new large-scale “omics” technologies in the development of an early, non-invasive diagnostic method for endometriosis. To achieve this goal, the Institute conducts scientific projects in the fields of proteomics, glycomics and metabolomics, as well as analyzes the obtained data. These projects are carried out in collaboration with other scientific centers in Poland and worldwide, using funds, including grants, provided by national institutions. An additional element of the Institute’s activities is conducting research on the epidemiology of female cancers.
Prof. Dr hab. med. Piotr Laudański
In his professional work, he is interested in various aspects of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive medicine, with particular emphasis on the care of patients with endometriosis, infertile couples due to various reasons, and pregnancies after infertility treatment. In addition to his basic specialization in obstetrics and gynecology, he has also obtained subspecializations in perinatology and gynecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine. He was awarded the title of professor in 2016. A member of international scientific societies, including the Polish Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, and the Polish Society of Reproductive Medicine and Embryology. He is the author of numerous scientific publications, patents, and a scientific editor of books including “Infertility: Common Problems,” the second part of the series “Infertility – Latest Recommendations,” and “Gynecological Endocrinology and Infertility”. He regularly lectures at national and international conferences and conducts courses for gynecologists on infertility and gynecological endocrinology.
Dr hab. n. med. Cezary Wojtyła
Dr Cezary Wojtyła is a graduate of the Medical University of Warsaw. In 2016, he obtained a doctorate in medical sciences, and in 2023, he obtained a habilitation degree in medical sciences and health sciences. In 2020, he obtained a specialist title in obstetrics and gynecology. In his professional and scientific work, he is particularly involved in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis and infertility. He has conducted several scientific projects aimed at identifying new biomarkers of endometriosis, including the grant from the National Science Centre: “The use of neoglycolipid technology-based microarrays in multiomic research on the biomarker of endometriosis”. This project was carried out in collaboration with Imperial College in London. In 2022, he received reward from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists.
